The Exchange Platform for Traditional Chinese Medicine between Germany and China

The 6th German-Chinese Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) continues the bilateral dialogue between Germany and China that has grown over many years and takes it consistently further. At a time of ageing societies, rising rates of chronic disease and increasing demands on prevention and quality of care, one question is moving to the fore: what contribution can integrative and preventive TCM approaches make to modern healthcare systems?

The online conference will be broadcast from Kliniken Essen-Mitte on 20 November 2026. It brings together clinical practice, research and health policy in both countries and creates space for an open, professionally grounded exchange.

Discussions will focus on concrete clinical experience, research approaches and models of care, with the aim of building bridges between traditional knowledge and modern evidence-based medicine.

The conference is aimed at physicians, scientists, hospital managers, and representatives of health insurance funds, politics and the healthcare industry. It stands for dialogue, trust and mutual learning, and for the conviction that innovation in healthcare emerges where different systems are willing to learn from one another.

A concept for integrative cross-sector care facilities (SüV). How can integrative approaches be combined with prevention and community-based care in these facilities? Which concepts are transferable, and what research do we need to support them?

About us

TCM Conference

The German-Chinese Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine brings together physicians, researchers, hospitals and other stakeholders from Germany and China.

Since it was first held in 2021, the conference has established itself as a platform for professional exchange on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Integrative Medicine. It is being developed further jointly with the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine and other German and Chinese partner institutions. The focus is on current clinical developments, scientific evidence, prevention and German-Chinese research and cooperation projects.

The conference takes place annually with changing specialist focuses – CME-accredited for continuing medical education.
